It's fitting that the Massachusetts special election to replace late Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy on Jan. 19 (read Jill Lawrence's coverage of the race) will intersect almost perfectly with the next Senate vote on the revised health care reform bill. If any state knows health care, it's the Bay State, which passed its own landmark health care reform bill in 2006.

Massachusetts voters have an appreciation for the gravitas of the health care issue. In 2006, the state passed a revolutionary, comprehensive health care reform bill, with the goals of A) expanding coverage to the poor and uninsured, and B) reducing health care costs (last summer I wrote an analysis of the law, the Massachusetts Health Care Access and Affordability Act, if you are interested in a more in-depth look). The bill expanded Medicaid coverage, provided subsidies to the poor to purchase private insurance, and created an insurance exchange called the "Connector," which graded insurance plans and established minimum-coverage mandates.

This year, Saraswati Puja is on 20th January, 2010 during Basant Panchami and October 13 to October 16, 2010 during Navratri. Saraswati is a Hindu god of education. Saraswati Puja is the worship of Hindu. Generally every year Saraswati Puja is performed during Basant Panchami and Navratri.
Saraswati's birthday – Vasant Panchami is a Hindu festival celebrated every year on the 5th day of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Magha. Saraswati devi is considered as consort of Brahma and daughter of Durga. Saraswati's children are the Vedas, which are the oldest sacred texts of Hinduism. Traditionally on this festival children are taught to write their first words. On this day people wear yellow garments and also prepare yellow sweet within families.

Saraswati Vandana Mantra:Saraswati Vandana Mantra is an important hindu mantra that is recited for higher knowledge and wisdom.

Yaa Kundendu tushaara haara-dhavalaa,

Yaa shubhra-vastra'avritha

Yaa veena-vara-danda-manditakara,

Yaa shwetha padma'asana

Yaa brahma'achyutha shankara prabhritibhir Devai-sadaa Vanditha

Other Mantra: following mantra makes a person a learned scholar and he attains high proficiency in education. This mantra should be recited at all morning pujas.
