Review:

Movie "Skyline" is one of those sci-fi films that spent so much of their time and budget on special effects, they forgot that a good story is also important, especially with the slew of good movies that have been out this year like Inception that spent as much time on story as visual wow.

Best Movies Ever finds if admirable that brothers Colin & Greg Strause, two special effects masters chose to make their own film instead of just working on others. They even were able to put scrounge up the $10 million budget before Skyline was picked up by Universal Pictures. We had already seen the script and were hoping that they would have made some major changes during filming, especially since Eric Balfour is not really known for great acting, but the film was still disappointing. It seems that the budget was spent on the special effects and the story was forgotten. There's only so many times you can hear people saying "What are we going to do", etc. before you start rooting for the aliens to get rid of these annoying people. If the filmmakers think these people represent the human race, we're all for aliens wiping out that particular sect.

We've been sent many stills from the film and the latest trailers, and from the script, it was looking like all the good stuff was in that and we were right in assuming that. Best Movies Ever hates being right since we applaud filmmakers funding their own films as it's something we've also done. We would love nothing better to praise Skyline to the heavens, but it just doesn't earn it. The actors try their hardest to act scared/horrified/angry/shocked but it just doesn't work. Some of the effects do look great as you would expect from special effects people, but it just doesn't make the film's horrible storyline go unnoticed.

Here's what Skyline's about: Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the earth.
