Rathore Attacked Outside Chandigarh Court

Former Haryana director general of police S.P.S. Rathore who is convicted in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, was attacked today with a sharp-edged knife by a youth (Utsav Sharma), while he was coming out of the district court complex in Sector 17 of Chandigarh.

68-year-old Rathore was stabbed by the youth identified as Utsav Sharma, a resident of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, in the left cheek. A bleeding Rathore covered the wound with a handkerchief before getting into his car.

The youth, who is pursuing a course in animation and film design at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, used his left hand to stab the former IPS officer, and delivered punches with his right hand on Rathore's right cheek.
