The KSRTC began as the Travancore State Transport Department, constituted by the erstwhile Travancore Government with a view to reorganize the transport service of the erstwhile state of Travancore. Mr E.G. Salter, Assistant, Operating Superintendent of London Passenger Transport Board was appointed as Superintendent of the Transport Department on 20 September 1937. It grew in size with nationalisation of key inter-state routes such as Thiruvanathapuram to Kanyakumari and Palakkad to Coimbatore

The first fleet consisted of 60 Comet chassis fitted with Perkins diesel engines, imported from England. The bus body was built by the staff of the Travancore State Transport Department under the supervision of Mr Salter himself. The selection of operating staff remains as a model which has been followed by the present staff as well. The department gave preference in recruitment for those who were likely to lose their jobs in the private transport companies due to the nationalization of Thiruvanathapuram Kanyakumari route. Thus, the Transport Department started with a staff of about a hundred graduates appointed as Inspectors and Conductors.

The State Motor Service was inaugurated by His Highness Sree Chithirathirunal on 20.2.1938. His Highness and his kin were the first passengers of the inauguration trip and Mr. Salter was himself the driver to that bus. This bus along with the 33 other buses brought on road driving through the Kawdiar Square was an attraction at that time. Kunnel G Varghese(1913-1999) at the time 25 years old, along with some others were some of the first drivers of the K.S.R.T.C. Kunnel G Varghese later retired after 40+ years in the service with K.S.R.T.C.

Consequent on the enactment of Road Transport Corporation Act in 1950, Govt. of Kerala formulated KSRTC rules in 1965 by sec.44 and the department was converted into an autonomous corporation on 1 April 1965. The Kerala State road Transport Corporation was established by the government of Kerala by the notification dated, 15 March 1965.

In 1995 KSRTC ventured into the technical education field as well with the starting of an engineering college named Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering at Pappanamcode in its Central Workshop premises.

Half a 'Chakram' was the minimum fare in 1938. The first class tickets had cost 50% more than the coordinating rate. During that period free travelling was allowed for children up to 3 years and only half the fare for children aged till 14 yrs. There were no luggage tickets as such but when the luggage weighed more than 28 pounds up to 56 pounds it had the levy of 4 chakras and luggage or luggages that weighed more than 56 pounds had the levy of 6 chakras up to 112 pounds and above. Since the Chakram had triple the value of a 100 rupee currency note today, the cost of travelling was comparatively higher during those days.

Indian Railways Indian Railway is becoming technologically advanced and the fact that people can book their tickets online confirms the statement. The people who know how to access internet on computers, can easily get reservation done on the internet itself. Indian Railway Online Booking has certainly changed the system of reservation in India. The best thing about this service is that one can get reservation done, sitting at home before the computer.

One can book his/ her tickets at IRCTC's online reservation site . Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is a subsidiary or the marketing division of Indian Railways. IRCTC handles the programme of online ticket booking. On 3rd August 2002, the system of online reservation was launched in collaboration with the Centre for Railway Information Systems. Earlier, people used to stand in long queues before the counters at the reservation centers, but online ticket booking has made things easier to a great extent.

Though the queues at reservation counters are still lengthy, yet they are in a better condition than before. Those people, who don't have internet connection at home, can go to cyber cafes for the booking. In case the user has a bank account in the banks listed on the page, then just by debiting the bank account for the amount, one can also make the payment for the ticket. Not only this, Indian railway online ticket reservation can also be made by using credit cards.

State Bank of India (SBI) makes a railway card, which is useful in online booking of tickets. In the vein of SBI, Federal Bank has also joined IRCTC to facilitate customers in online reservation by means of Fed Net principle. One can make reservations online by simply debiting the Federal Bank account from anywhere in India or abroad. Another advantage for customers of Federal Bank is their tickets are delivered without any charge.

Indian Railways Online Ticket Booking is also of immense help to the people who don't have much time. Several years ago, Andy was sentenced to prison. During his stay, he got along well with the guards and all his fellow inmates. The warden saw that deep down, Andy was a good person and made arrangements for Andy to learn a trade while doing his time. After three years, Andy was recognized as one of the best carpenters in the local area. Often he would be given a weekend pass to do odd jobs for the citizens of the community, and he always reported back to prison before Sunday night was over. The warden was thinking of remodeling his kitchen and in fact had done much of the work himself. But he lacked the skills to build a set of kitchen cupboards and a large counter top which he had promised his wife. So he called Andy into his office and asked him to complete the job for him. But, alas, Andy refused. He told the warden, "Gosh, I'd really like to help you but counter fitting is what got me into prison in the first place".

Adult jokes-Bandage

A guy out on the golf course takes a high speed ball right in the crotch. Writhing in agony, he falls to the ground, when he finally gets himself to the doctor.
He says, "How bad is it doc? I'm going on my honeymoon next week and my fiancee is still a virgin in every way." The doc said, "I'll have to put your penis in a splint to let it heal and keep it straight. It should be okay next week."
So he took four tongue depressors and formed a neat little 4-sided bandage, and wired it all together; an impressive work of art. The guy mentions none of this to his girl, marries, and on his honeymoon night in the motel room, she rips open her blouse to reveal a gorgeous set of breasts. This was the first time he saw them.
She says, "You are my FIRST, no one has ever touched these breasts." He whips down his pants and says... " Look at this, it's still in the CRATE!"
