Some states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Orissa and Chhattisgarh are also conducting online counselling for admission to various professional courses, viz. Medicine, Management, diploma/degree programmes in Engineering, etc. Counselling is done on the basis of marks scored by students in the relevant examinations which may be AIEEE or separate examinations conducted by the states themselves. To participate in the counselling, candidates are required to register separately through state websites. Most states allow a stipulated number of seats to be filled on the basis of marks scored by candidates in AIEEE. Punjab, for instance, is allowing only 15 per cent seats for professional courses (for students from outside the state) to be filled on the basis of AIEEE 2010.
