Wolf Child Supatra Sasuphan (Werewolf Syndrome) Posted: 01 Mar 2011 12:58 AM PST 11-Year-Old Supatra Sasuphan Has Abras Syndrome: Named World’s Hairiest Girl Teased her whole life, Supatra Sasuphan gets called “Wolf Child” and “Monkey Face” by the other kids. Now, though, the Guinness Book of World Records has named Supatra Sasuphan the world’s hairiest girl, and suddenly she’s the coolest kid at her school. Perhaps the most famous person with hypertrichosis was Julia Pastrana, a Mexican woman who appeared in sideshows as “the Bear Woman”. Julia Pastrana was bought by a sideshow promoter who took her on tour around the world. She died at age 26 in 1860, and had given birth to a child with the same condition. The child survived for less than 48 hours. Werewolf Syndrome: a Rare Condition Supatra Sasuphan, who lives in Bangkok, Thailand, has a condition called hypertrichosis, also known as Abras syndrome, which causes hair to grow over her entire body, even her face. Congenital hypertrichosis is extremely rare, and has only affected around 50 people since the Middle Ages. Abras syndrome has also been called “werewolf syndrome”, but no lycanthropy is involved, which is good news for the kids who teased Supatra Sasuphan.
